Started his career as Tutor in Radiotherapy and Medical Oncology at Medical College, Thrissur. Joined RCC, Trivandrum in 1989 as Asst. Professor & Head of Medical Oncology. Established the Medical Oncology Department in RCC, the first of its kind in Kerala. Underwent Bone Marrow Transplantation Training programme at USA and UK with NCI and WHO fellowships. Did the first Blood Stem Cell transplantation in Kerala. At present working as Senior Consultant and Head of Medical & Pediatric Oncology at VPS Lakeshore, Welcare Hospital Kochi & Caritas Cancer Centre, Kottayam.
Involved in Academic activities as a teacher in graduate and post graduate training programmes and as examiner of DM Medical Oncology at various Universities in India. Has delivered scientific lectures as invited speaker in over sixty seminars & scientific meetings.
Involved in the mission of educating the public on prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer through various camps and classes, articles in dailies and periodicals and audiovisual media. Has established Cochin Cancer Society to extend the cancer care to the needy and underprivileged cancer patients and to ensure that no patient is denied treatment due to lack of money.
Dr. VPG, is a distinguished Oncologist who combines high professional skill with compassion, and hence is a source of hope for cancer patients generally steeped in despondency. Graduated in 1979 form Medical College, Kottayam. Received post graduate degree in Radiotherapy in 1984 and Internal Medicine in 1986, from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Medical College, Kottayam respectively. Did his DM Medical Oncology at Adayar Cancer Institute, Adayar Chennai.
He has acquired Diploma in Hospital Administration in 1984 from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Had Training in Bone Marrow transplantation from George Town University Hospital, Washington DC, USA in 1995 and Royal Marsden Hospital Sutton, UK in 1997 and awarded with Fellowships of NCI, USA & W.H.O.

Breast and Gynecological malignancies.
Participated as Principal Investigator in thirty eight national and international multicentric clinic trials and had been the research guide in ten Post graduate research thesis including thesis in Ayurveda and music therapy.
He has to his credit, over forty publications in national and international Medical and Oncology journals. Has authored chapters in three Medical text books. He is also the peer Reviewer in Journal of Medical and Paediatric Oncology. JK Practitioner and Annals of Saudi medicine. Has authored the book titled “Jeevithamenna Athbudham” reflecting his experiences with his patients.
He is endowed with over sixty awards by various organizations at state, national and international level honouring his medical excellence and community services.
